On our website you will find Application for Approval of Unmanned Aircraft Flight in Controlled Airspace (CTR) and Abstract of the Rules, which sets out the conditions for approval of the application. Before submitting the application, please read the abstract of the rules, as it contains the rules that must be followed during the flight operation. One of our operational services will review your application and issue approval within 48 hours at the latest.
Slovenia Control, Ltd., does not issue permits or approvals for open category flights. Open category unmanned aircraft operators may only fly in a CTR within an area at least 5 km away from the airport reference point and shall not fly higher than 50 m above ground level. The airport reference point represents the centre of the runway.
During the period when the airport air traffic control service (ATS service) is not operating, the airport is uncontrolled. In such a case, the rules applicable to uncontrolled airports must be observed. In other words, it is prohibited to fly within 2600 m of any point on the runway centre line unless the operator obtains an express permission from the airport operator. The same applies for flying in the vicinity of heliports, where permission from the heliport operator must be obtained to fly closer than 1850 m.
The operating hours of airports and airport air traffic control services are subject to change, so current information can be found in AIP Slovenia, Aerodromes section: eAIS Package SLOVENIA. In AIP Slovenia, chapter GEN 3.3, Title 6 ATS UNITS ADDRESS, you can also find the telephone number of the control tower at the airport, which you can call for more accurate information about when they will be operational and when not.
In addition to the AIP, it is essential to follow NOTAM messages, which contain the most up-to-date information for pilots, which they must familiarize themselves with before flying, and which may differ from those published in the AIP. The easiest way is to use the NOTAM map on: https://www.sloveniacontrol.si/en. Click on the desired airport and all NOTAMs published for the selected airport will be displayed below the map.
In addition to restrictions on flying in controlled airspace near airports, it is essential to comply with all other restrictions on flying in urban areas, over assemblies of people, etc. For more information on flight restrictions, please read: Unmanned Aircraft System.
We are pleased that you care about aviation safety and respect regulations on flying unmanned aircraft.
